Rules help things run smoothly, but this is not a dictatorship.  We just wanted to set out a few things which are quite obvious to keep this site a nice place to be.  If we could condense these rules into two words they would be RESPECT and TRUST, if you respect and trust each other, we'll all get along famously.

We moderate posts reactively because we believe it allows more people to contribute. This means that as a registered user of Shift.ms, your comment is published directly to the site without moderation, but will be removed if we or others find it offensive.  We hope in time the community will moderate itself.

• Starting at the top, we will not allow any content to be posted to the site that is: unlawful, harassing, defamatory, abusive, threatening, harmful, obscene, profane, racially offensive or otherwise objectionable. Try and be nice to each other.

• No advertising or spamming at all. Ever. Even subtle stuff. [Unless of course you are promoting a Shift.ms event]

• We expect people to talk about medical experience and drug choices, however we will not tolerate promotion of one drug over another, feel free to provide information but please let people come to their own conclusions.

• Lying about your age or identity is just not on. In fact just don't lie - honesty is the best policy.

• Posts can contain links but please don't link to websites you wouldn't want your granny to visit.

• Please respect people's privacy, so make sure you have the consent of all the people you feature in any video or image you submit and don't post other peoples personal details. For further details on video guidelines see youtube  http://uk.youtube.com/t/community_guidelines

Finally, and this is not a rule more friendly advice, be aware you may be misunderstood by other users of the community, so try to be clear about what you're saying, and remember that your tone may be misinterpreted.

We want to develop a friendly, safe and vibrant community where people feel they can express their opinions without fear of personal attack so anyone breaking these rules persistently will be banned from commenting, and we reserve the right to use our discretion at how these rules are interpreted and who is banned.
